I Made My Mum Do The Hardest Trek To Machu Picchu
The 5 Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is one of the hardest treks in the Cusco area, trekking for multiple days at 4000m elevation, sleeping in tents and with limited washing facilities.
It will put any beginner hiker on the edge of their limits and so I decided to finish off my 7 Months in Latin America by flying out my mum to put her through her paces and see if she could defeat this difficult trek to fulfil her bucket list dream of visiting Machu Picchu.

@@AdamRadcliffe Usually, after descending, I will dip myself at Poring Hotsprings just to unwind, after that you go to Sabah Tea plantation to sip a fresh cup of tea. Both venues are just nearby to Kundasang

Sorry Adam, not near the best. I have been diving for 30+ years. You want the best in my opinion? Shaab el Rumi in the SUDAN? THE Sec Paté in Guadeloupe. Then my favorite the Rainbow river in Florida. Even then my last dives in the Maldives completely blow your best in the world out of the water

It’s a matter of perspective
When and how does checking your gear and packing your canope happen, how does that go, who teaches and how many hours?
You learn to check your own kit as past of your ground school and AFF jumps. Always checked as well by an instructor. Then you gradually learn to be fully competent at checking your kit as you progress through your A License.
Can you use supplemental oxygen for summit day?
Check with your guide company

Varies everywhere you go and depending on what type of jump. This one was £20 flight ticket and £23 kit hire :)
